beneath the stars It's been a week since our newest expansion officially launched! And, I know, I know... some of you already have a lot of feelings that you need to air out. But canon updating in your games is a struggle! And so is finding PSL partners! Luckily, that's what we're here for. This is a post for you to play out all the Shadowbringers-related content you might be dying to write. Behind-the-scenes nonsense? Between-the-scenes angst? It's all welcome here! 1. Sometimes Yua can be quite intelligent when the need arises. Sometimes she can be dense as a bag of bricks. But then there is the third option of knowing that something is wrong and can cause pain but you still want to do it anyway.

Yua is taking the third option because seeing this guy lying around in a...not graceful manner amuses her. It's more amusing when Yua finds a long stick and the simple urge overcomes her...by crouching down and poking the man's side.

Poke poke poke. Can't stop won't stop poking. This might be an interesting encounter.

It's bad enough that the Lifestream seems to have spat him back out but without the use of his powers, but now this? Some...creature, harassing him while he lies here in agony? The nerve.

He reaches out and grabs the stick, breaking it before it can cause him anymore problems, not once looking at whatever was holding it.

ALL THE SPOILERS. And yes. Yes we do.

"You do know the broken part is probably sharper and I can still do it."

If he didn't know who it was before, now he will as Yua grins because making him annoyed means she's doing it right.

"Although I do have those new heels too..." She won't ever use them but the reaction is all that matters.

Oh, hells.

"That's right, you're a viera now. Who decided on that particular change again?"

"Not sure but for once, something good happened when I got dared to drink something weird."

To be fair, she did that kind of thing before coming to Eorzea. Just never her little cousin's science projects.

"I was not expecting this...let alone the very funny position you must be in."

[angeloftruth]

"How on earth have you survived so long?" He finally sits up, giving Yua the most Tired Look known to man and completely ignoring the "very funny position" comment. "I am genuinely curious."

[holdmystabber]

She shrugs and relaxes her position, moving from crouching to a relaxed sitting position.

"A strong stomach, stubbornness and spite. The last one was more of a build up since coming to Eorzea."

[angeloftruth]

"'Stubbornness' and 'spite' are the same thing, unless the definition of either changed in the last fifty years."

[holdmystabber]

"Personally I see spite as more of an aggressive stubborness. Apparently it's made me a thorn in people's sides but if it helps."

It can be healthy to an extent in Yua's mind. It's kind of scary to think about considering the so called sides and how she acts.

"And you, for some godsforsaken reason, have decided to be a thorn in my side? Despite knowing what I'm capable of?"

[holdmystabber]

"I was literally picked by a death goddess to represent Hope in my original world to see if people wanted that or if they were content to live with Emptiness and Despair." It's said without her usual playfulness.

"The answer was blasting a beam of Truth in her face. Given that, the reasoning is easy."

[angeloftruth]

A long, heavy pause.

"I'm sorry, what?"

[holdmystabber]

"The original world part or that I blasted someone with a Truth beam? Both sound nuts to a normal person but we are not exactly in that category."

[angeloftruth]

"That last bit. I'm well aware that your soul, for whatever reason, decided to go off and see the universe for a while."

[holdmystabber]

Yua quirks an eyebrow because what the hell? "Hold on, explain that first then I will explain Earth and all that."

[angeloftruth]

"If I could, I would. All I know is that your soul left the Source some time ago only to return."

[holdmystabber]

Yua sighs, leaning enough to be flat on her back and look upwards. "I know nothing about souls and travel; we do not exactly learn that in high school."

But there is something she can speak on involving souls. Yua pauses for a minute but then on instinct, she whispers a line "I am Thou...Thou art I..." before raising her voice to normal levels and asks him another question.

"If I mention 'persona', what comes to your mind?"

[angeloftruth]

An odd question. "Just another word for alias. I've had many personae in my life, after all."

[holdmystabber]

"...what if I were to say a persona can be considered a part of your soul used for battle? Because that's where the Truth Beam came from."

[angeloftruth]

What.

"I would believe you, because that is the single most absurd thing I've heard in ten thousand years."

[holdmystabber]

She can feel her mouth widen into a grin because stumping the ancient one? That has to be a record.

"Then you may think I am lying when I say I was able to use more than one. Only one was powerful enough to fight at the end but I was able to throughout the journey."

[angeloftruth]

He waves her off. "No, no, if you say you could I'll believe you. What purpose would lying to me about that serve, after all? Now, about this...truth beam?"

[holdmystabber]

Oh right, that.

"It was a culmination of what I had learned about myself, the bonds I had forged since gaining the power, and the ability to see the truth clearly that I was able to release that power."

Putting her hands under her head, she keeps her gaze upward.

"You see, Izanami, the death goddess, decided to give three people the ability to awaken their personas to see what was humanity's wish: each representing an aspect: Emptiness, Despair, and Hope. Whoever had the strongest aspect, she would grant humanity's desire according to that.

And no, Hope was not winning until me and my friends challenged her and proved her wrong. Or rather me. She...kind of dragged them to Hell first."

This all sounds alarmingly familiar and, frankly, Emet-Selch is not sure he approves of someone even vaguely similar to him existing away from the Source.

"What was winning?"

[holdmystabber]

"Emptiness was. Funny how it works in a sleepy little town in Japan. No one would know that the fate of the world rested in those who were staying there."

And it's probably a good idea not to share how most got their personas or anything involving Liminal Space. Yua does not want to give him ideas.
