"Oh I'll never blunder into a trap room, not intentionally anyhow," snorted Koo'ri with a laugh. "But you're right, this axe is all off. I knew I shouldn't have gotten it out of the discount bin at Rowena's."
"500 Tomestones of Mendacity my butt, super cheap they said!" he snorted.
"Anything that requires such archaic and rare currency is never 'cheap,' you know," Felih chides in amusement, tail flicking playfully back and forth behind him as he stretches, standing before going over to pat at the tank's arm. "Come- it looks like we've drained these ruins of anything they had to offer. It'll be better if we get out of here before the sun sets."
He huffs, looking down at himself. "I'm covered in dirt and blood and I need a bath. Why must all these places be so full of filth?" he groans, the vain cat ever-worried about his appearance.
"It's just a ruin. And I'm just wondering how short people were when they built this place," grumbled Koo'ri, shouldering his weapon, as cheap as it was.
"I don't think they built it for giants like you," Felih comments in amusement, looking up at his Auri companion. Felih is usually a good head or two (if not three) shorter than most Auri men, but he's used to having to look up at most of his companions by now. Miqo'te men tend to run on the smaller end of things...
"Well yeah, but that's because it's built for you people," remarked Koo'ri with a grumble. "But at least we're out of the ruins now. Anywhere else we need to go?"
Felih snorts then, shaking his head. "Pfft- 'you people.' How rude- just because we're more conveniently sized doesn't mean we should be disparaged so," he says, melodramatic and playful as he moves along, tugging his tank companion through the ruins they've cleared out.
"Let's see... now that we've left that place behind? We should probably head back to town to see about your axe, and gather more supplies before we return to traveling."
Felih quickly grips Koo'ri's forearm, looking a little spooked. "Badly weighted or not, I'd rather not have you discard a weapon while we're still out in the wilderness. Let's hold onto it until we get into someplace safe, alright?" he asks, before starting to lead the way.
Well, tanks were supposed to lead, but Felih is rather headstrong and likes to lead the way despite being a slight-of-stature mage. "At least it's only an hour's stray from here..."
"We've cleaned out most of the monsters coming in but I wouldn't be surprised if something's moved in by now," said Koo'ri, looking around for a moment.
"Hold on, detour." He pulled Felih to the side on the wide way around. "I smell Morbol. You never quite get it out of your nose once you fight one. And there's one probably feasting on the corpses of the wolves we finished off on the way in."
Felih's ears pin back when Koo'ri suddenly pulls him aside, startled, but he instinctively moves to tuck himself behind his tank, tail low as he balances himself, prepared to leap or sprint if he must for whatever may come.
He lets himself scent the air, and then murmurs, "I smell it too. Ugh, the stench is awful..." He shudders in displeasure, giving the beast a wide berth as they make their way around. He walks lightly, silent-footed on the earth, trying to leave little or no trace. It's all instinct to him, old things learned growing up as a Miqo'te hunter.
"Good thing these things are easy to avoid," said Koo'ri as they snuck around the morbol, giving it a wide berth. "It seems to be busy eating that couerl we killed on the way in."
Felih sighs. "I hate having to kill the coeurls," he whines softly as they sneak around, sticking close to Koo'ri and trying to avoid looking in the direction of the Morbol. It wasn't news that Felih loved all feline creatures- even the wild and aggressive ones. After all, this was the same man who had raised coeurl and tiger kits into loyal pets and battlemounts.
Felih sighs a little as he follows along, still sticking close defensively. "Yes, I know," he says, still upset about it anyway. At least his own pet wildcats were safe and sound back at base, where no one could hurt them. "So long as we avoid the trail of carnage we created on the way here, we should be able to avoid all the scavenging beasts."
"Mayhaps we should take the long way around?" he muses.
"Yeah I think that'll be for the best. We're just a few hundred yalms from Quarrymill. If we hurry we'll make it back before dark and avoid anything huge." said Koo'ri, nodding.
Felih sighs and makes his way through the Twelveswood, ears up and alert as ever, though now and then he can't resist the urge to climb up a high perch just to look around and ensure they're safe. He's a climber, like most Miqo'te kits, but he just never grew out of the habit.
"We've got time," he says, after coming down from a tree. "The sun's still high up, and once we're at Quarrymill we can get into an inn and rest. And deliver what we found, too..." he muses, stretching as he walks, tail wiggling behind him- sometimes brushing against Koo'ri's scaled one playfully, though he knows Auri tails aren't as flexible as Miqo'te ones.
"Yeah, they'll be happy to get their delivery. And I can get a new axe once I toss this one out." he patted it with a grin, looking over at Felih and stretches as well.
"You're contagious with your mannerisms," he snorted.
Felih raises an eyebrow at him curiously. "I'm contagious? And what, pray tell, do you mean by that?" he asks, an amused smirk fighting to make its way across his face, although he's trying hard not to let it show. His tail wiggles behind him- he's in a playful mood again, as ever.
Felih just grins at him then, before bumping his shoulder against Koo'ri's side. "Oh, is that so? Well, we oughtta wake you up. I'll race you back to Quarrymill," he challenges, the lithe healer speedy and light-footed as always, already excited for another chance to just run for the hell of it. "What do you say?"
As if they haven't exerted themselves enough today, already!
Felih grins, and darts along as well, using his agile build to try and keep up, if not hopefully surpass his tank. He's determined, after all, trying to defend his pride. Hopefully he doesn't trip very ungracefully over something.
He laughs, "C'mon, you're gonna have to do better than that to beat me there!"
Felih is grinning, speeding up and pulling the same kind of stunts, leaping over rocks and logs, scrambling over hills and barriers as he tries to outrun his partner.
"Yeah, I don't doubt it- but maybe you shouldn't race while you're weighed down with all that armor, yeah?" Felih laughs loud, exhilarated, as he rushes along, zooming- his light armor and mage robes made it so much easier to zoom across the terrain.
