"E-sumi-yan?" Felih asks during a quiet evening, when it looks like the master doesn't have many students left to instruct for the day, when there's a lull in the guild's usual business. He's tired out, ears low, and looking defeated- but there's something he knows he must ask.
"Just- just a quick question, if you've the time," he starts. "If one were... were to witness the formation of a new soul crystal- one bearing the knowledge of white magics, should... should that stone be brought to the Padjal?" Felih himself is a scholar, an astrologian- and though he dabbled in white magics, he never had the chance to truly study it like his best friend had.
"...I remember hearing that the knowledge of it is quite guarded by the Padjal, but..." he trails off, glancing aside.
E-sumi is silent for a moment, studying the young man for a moment. Surely he couldn't mean...
But why else would Felih be asking the question then? He gives a nod. "Yes. Padjal are entrusted with guarding the knowledge of white magic. Though it is the art of succor, it has been used for selfish gain. Which is why the Elementals have entrusted us with this task."
He pauses. "However, if a new Soul Stone has formed, then it must be because the Elementals have willed it so for they have chosen you to be a White Mage. While you should come to us for further training, you need not surrender it to us." He smiles and raises his hand. "Though, I would like to see it if I may. It has been too long since I have seen a new one formed."
Felih's ears pin low against his hair, and he pulls out the stone in question. It glows, it's new, resonating with a familiar aether- Coconzo, better known as Connor, a white mage and Felih's best friend.
"This is... this is Connor's," he says quietly. "We- we were... that is, not long ago, we fought a primal... Thordan and his knights, the former head of Ishgard. Connor- he gave his life for ours. I came because- well, I thought you should know. He always held you in high regard, even if his methods of dealing with the elementals was a bit unorthodox..." Coconzo Chechenzo, whose exasperated ranting at the elementals somehow yielded results.
"Forgive me, I had assumed that a new one had formed for you."
He takes the stone, and holds it in his hands, feeling Coconzo Chechenzo's last remaining aether. After a moment he puts it to his chest over his heart and closes his eyes.
"Connor was a good man," he said holding the stone back to Felih. "He spoke highly of you as well, child. I believe this stone should serve you well should you want to wield its power. But that is your choice, and one you do not have to make today."
Felih's ears remain pinned against his hair as he reluctantly passes the stone, and he watches with very poorly-veiled misery as E-sumi-yan speaks. He is quick to accept the stone again, holding it close to his heart, and feels the pulse.
Stubborn, strong, insistent- less gentle than the stone Connor himself had held, which was now in the possession of another of their comrades.
"I..." he starts, hesitating a moment. "That is, to heal- I would wish to learn what I can to better aid my fellow Warriors. With Connor gone, that... leaves me as the only one adept in healing magics. I would be glad, to learn more ways to strengthen my loved ones, and protect them."
