beneath the stars It's been a week since our newest expansion officially launched! And, I know, I know... some of you already have a lot of feelings that you need to air out. But canon updating in your games is a struggle! And so is finding PSL partners! Luckily, that's what we're here for. This is a post for you to play out all the Shadowbringers-related content you might be dying to write. Behind-the-scenes nonsense? Between-the-scenes angst? It's all welcome here! 1. Toplevel your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops. 2. Reply to other people's top levels! 3. Have fun! ⚔ Please clearly mark all spoilers in your thread subject lines. Clearly indicate whatever spoiler preferences you may have. We're only a week into the expansion, officially, and there's no shame if you're not far in it or haven't started it yet. ⚔ You are welcome to play characters who are new to Shadowbringers. However, please try to avoid topleveling with icons and descriptions that convey major plot-related spoilers. If you aren't certain about a character's playability, feel free to PM ![]() |

A little bit, yes.
[whether he means a test of your reflexes or you failed is left unclear. aster passes his knuckles over his cheeks, perhaps a little self-consciously. keep forgetting to shave. damn. his hand retreats back to his side.]
You moved faster than I thought you would, out in Holminster Switch. Didn't push your old bones too hard, did you?
no subject
Not at all, though I admit I did need to sit down in the tower for a while when we returned, but it was - dare I say - rather exhilarating to take to the field for a while.

[aster looks at the apple in the exarch's palm for a moment — then he gestures loosely around his neck, evidently in an attempt to indicate the exarch's peculiar condition.]
Can you — with the crystals. Can you eat? [or maybe that's not the right question.] Do you want to?
no subject
Ah... I do not need to eat - I derive my energy from the selfsame aether that sustains and operates the tower. But that is not to say I can't eat nor that I lack the capacity to taste. It is simply that its nourishment is wasted on me.
[With his crystal hand, he holds the apple out for Aster to take, if he desires.]
no subject
[aster takes the apple back, rubbing at its red skin a little carelessly with a clean sleeve before putting it back in the basket. (katliss doesn’t seem to mind.) the warrior of — light? darkness? — well, apparently he’s not hungry either, which begs the question of why his gaze drops as though he’s crestfallen.
this does, however, alert him to a different kind of problem. as soon as he looks down, aster’s brow arches as he takes in the exarch’s choice of footwear.]
...Exarch, you’re still wearing those sandals in the rain? Your feet are going to get wet.
no subject
[After all, even if he doesn't need to do so to live, he still from time to time breaks bread with the people he has come to trust and rely upon and protect.
But he is distracted from the thought of local delicacies and comforts by the comment on his sandals. The Exarch wiggles his toes.]
They already have in walking here, but I must confess I am enjoying it. You don't realize quite how much you miss a proper rain until you go a century without it.
no subject
[the blank, vaguely dissociative thousand-yalm stare speaks volumes.]
no subject
Yes, well, when phrased like that I suppose I see your point. But my feet will dry soon enough, and - [his voice takes on a bit of mischief] - it is a bit fun to jump in puddles.
no subject
Do you want to?
[it's hard to tell if he's joking or not. stony-faced, though not without a gentleness to his expression, aster holds out his hand, palm up.]
I'll hold your shoes, if you want. You can jump all over town.
my deepest apologies for my delay - i might have...... replayed shadowbringers instead of tagging...
Truly, your kindness knows no bounds great or small.
[Tilting his head, the Exarch brings a hand to his chin for a moment, tapping it as he gives it serious consideration]
Tempting though the offer is, I am afraid I must decline. [He is smiling, nevertheless.] I can but imagine the scolding I would get from Lyna, were she to catch me in the act.
all's good!
[calmly, addressing the exarch just as lyna does, aster lets his hand fall. he didn't really expect the exarch to take him up on the offer, of course — they'd look like a pair of fools, and that surely means something to the exarch if not necessarily to aster — but all the same...]
That being said — [his low voice turns soft, too soft, as if he means to say something else entirely] — no one's asked you to lock yourself up in that tower, either.
no subject
[He agrees to Aster's first statement, though in truth, he had been thinking of how Lyna would chide him for the the potential to catch cold. Not that he has been able to sicken in the conventional way since joining with the Tower, but such things matter little in the face of well-meaning concern.
But the rest of what Aster says... the Exarch stills for a moment, his breath catching before he releases it with a soft sigh. He shakes his head.]
None save the Tower itself, no. [He smiles faintly.] But I do try to leave the door unlocked.
