She's one of those exceptions to that "probably" most of the time. Endless mountain of energy to burn, that's Sayano - once all the blood, grime, and various other stains of battle were washed off she was ready to party. Hells, she probably helped set it up while everyone else was resting.
She'd been just as content to enjoy the gathering on her own, join a loose group of solo dancers, maybe take a break or two for food, drink, or a chat. But that never meant a dance with her fellow hero was unwelcome, not in the slightest.
There's an abrupt noise of surprise when Felih grabs her hand, but by the time he's pulled her in, she's laughing gaily. She adjusts to the spin deftly - if there's anything at all a ninja is good for, it's footwork! - and leads him into another, stepping back into something suitable to the rhythm. She may or may not be subtly challenging him to keep up. Felih shares her love of dancing, she's going to get everything she can out of this!
"Yes! The heroes persevere again! I'd been wondering when I'd find myself dancing with you."
[Pardon my cheesy attempts at coming up with random adventuring song lyrics, aha aiufhaiuf]
Felih laughs and grins at her, giving her a playful dip before leading her in another series of bouncing and bounding steps, spins and lively moves. "Oh, as if I'd leave my teammates out of the festivities!" he grins. "I'll even see if I can get some of the grumps up to dance. Some of them are far too serious," he says, purring.
His hair is down from its usual adventuring bun, now in a long, loose braid that bounces and sways with his movements. His Thavnairian attire makes for perfect dancing clothes, red and gold like his hair and fur, its light trim a contrast against his dark skin.
He sings along with the other adventurer chanting rousing victory ballads, bar songs, adventurer's melodies- and his dancing doesn't seem to impede his ability to sing in the slightest. Soon enough it's his turn to lead the chorus, and he relishes in the spotlight. "Though the grind goes on and the battles don't stop~ ♪ But it's always fun to come out on top~ ♪ The fighters know will makes a way- and so they live to fight another day! ♪"
He does note the say she seems to be challenging him, a grin showing off those sharp teeth of his before he holds her by the hips and lifts her into a spin.
She grins right back as she leans back with the dip. "Good luck with that. Best to focus your efforts on people who can actually appreciate it!"
Namely, herself. She can't dance and sing at once without the lyrics coming out choppy, so she lets her voice get drowned out by his, and focuses her efforts on trying to keep him moving in this little challenge of hers. He may be leading, but that doesn't mean she has to passively follow.
Of course, she can't do any such thing if she's in the air. She masks her startled noise as the start of laughter, steadying herself on his shoulder as he sets her back down... only to use the leverage to pull him into more bounds and agile steps, breaking only to twirl.
He's playful and delighted, clearly thrilled to have her attention and be her dance partner for the night, grinning. "Is that so? Well, if my energies are best spent so- I'll have to keep you for another dance or two, hm?" Felih laughs, taking her hand and spinning her, letting his steps bound to match her strides, letting them glide and cut across through the mass of dancing adventurers in the lively tavern.
Scions and adventurers alike are enjoying the festivities- so why not? He laughs when she uses her leverage to keep pulling him around, and he follows easily, before trying to take the lead again.
"Thank goodness someone has light feet- here I was, starting to worry I wouldn't find a capable dancing partner," he purrs, his long and fluffy tail happily swinging around to balance his steps as he dances. "I'd expect no less from a shinobi! You know, I never asked- where did you learn to dance?"
With the clapping and stomping from those around them, the bards' and minstrels' melodies are only livened up further, encouraging Felih to up the ante just slightly. Pulling her close, then guiding her out and away again, twirls and bounces and brief spins around each other, turning in opposite directions before meeting again.
She grins brightly at him, with an edge of playful teasing as he draws her in. She's content to follow his lead now, her turn to try to match his steps.
"Practice, of course!" She pauses as he spins her away, to spin and return to close quarters. She's made a game of it but it likely wouldn't have to be for her to be having the time of her life, the bottom edges of her facial scales tinged a light pink with her flush of excitement. "And some manuals to start," she adds, unable to keep her breathlessness from her tone. It's the only real hint the exercise wears her down at all, at the moment.
Felih laughs. "Manuals are good and well, but it does nothing to beat the actual thing," he chirps as he spins and leads her, her hands in his as he tugs and twirls and moves her back and forth, glad to lead. It delights him to see the flush on her cheeks- after all, what's the point of a dance if you don't get folk all lively and delighted?
It's a fun atmosphere, with drinks flowing and people singing and dancing, and he muses, "It feels like ages since we've all been able to celebrate." Though he's smiling, there's a bit of ache in his chest, a glint of sadness in his eyes.
"Well, that's why I keep an orchestrion in my apartment!" she says with a giggle, still eagerly dancing along. Dancing is fun, but even more so with a partner, and especially one that's also a trusted ally and friend.
Her excitement doesn't sober any, but she acknowledges the hint of melancholy when it comes with a squeeze of his hands as they dance. "For all we've been through, we deserve it! A night to let go of our burdens, hm?"
"A wonderful investment," Felih laughs, taking her and leading her in several gliding spins through the tavern as the music swells, before adding, "Say, we should make a habit of this. Perhaps we can teach the others a thing or two about enjoying themselves and how to move their feet." He's grinning and mischievous- he's always trying to liven up the Rising Stones, get their companions to relax and have fun. Someone has to make sure they don't all collapse from stress- and Felih takes that duty onto himself, being the fussy healer he is.
But her comment, the gentle squeeze of his hands, has his heart put at ease a least a little. He smiles, returning the squeeze as they move, and says, "Yes- I agree. Let's make this a celebration, as it should be."
He's tired of mourning- and he's sure the others must be too. He shouldn't let old wounds drag him down- not tonight.
He'll have a willing accomplice in Sayano - her response to everything is to keep moving, never let up, never stop, and never lose sight of the things she enjoys. Morale and sanity tend to be tethered, after all.
She twirls to a halt as the piece comes to a close, pulling herself in and letting go of one of his hands to lean back over his arm, trusting him to transition into that dip before he drops her - it seems fitting to end this dance with a dramatic pose. But then, when isn't it? Dramatic poses, like the dance itself, are simply fun for their own sake. She's grinning wide enough it seems she could start laughing any moment.
"A perfect idea! I have manuals and music to lend to the cause. It would be better than draining the coffers by hiring our musical talent every time, after all."
Felih gets the cue easily, grinning as he eases her down into a dip, with proper flourish and dramatics. Some of his hair has come loose from the dancing, making him look a little mussed- but in a nice way. He's been enjoying himself, physical exertion just leaving him glowing and looking pleasantly ruffled. His smile mirrors hers, except he doesn't resist the urge to laugh, pulling her back up into a tight hug while the carousing adventurers around them clap and cheer as the song ends, many dancers taking bows to each other.
"Perfect! And it would be nice to liven up the Rising Stones more frequently- this place is too often so quiet and studious, so many of our number so serious. Ah, come, let's get ourselves a drink- we shouldn't steal the spotlight too long."
"My thoughts exactly!" She hugs him back just as tightly, though every muscle seems ready to spring back into action to do anything at any moment. Other than being out of breath, she doesn't appear to be exhausted in the slightest.
She leads him away, through the throng of partygoers towards the bar, a bounce in her step and her tail held at a slight curve - an Auri woman's tail doesn't usually betray much of her emotions the way a Miqo'te's might, but she's feeling pleased with herself and the display they put on at the end of the dance.
"I wonder how they manage to keep focusing on their duties when they never take a proper break! I would go mad. I'm sure of it."
Felih laughs a little, following along contentedly behind his bouncy partner, letting her lead and cut through the crowd. His own tail is swaying contentedly behind him, fluffy and sleek fur better showing off the mild quiver of his tail. He's in a good mood, and it shows, his body at ease and relaxed, flushed with happy exertion.
Once they make it to the bar, he takes a seat and playfully lifts and plops Sayano onto the stool next to him, before laughing. "Good gods, sometimes I wonder if they're not mad already, with the way they focus on work to the detriment of anything else. Most folk's response to a primal is to run away, but I feel like most of us are more likely to stop and take notes instead..." Before they inevitably have to go destroy it, of course.
He orders himself a fruity spirit, though, and offers it up for a toast- "To many more celebrations." And hopefully, no more mourning.
Sayano allows herself to be lifted without protest - it's in the life of the petite, after all, and besides, it's Felih. Ordering something sweet for herself, she leans an elbow on the bar, seated sideways in her stool to face him completely.
"I can toast to that." She clinks her glass against his with another playful giggle. "And to us who make them possible!"
Felih grins and toasts her, perking up considerably before starting to down his goblet of fruity booze, setting it down on the counter once he's drained it to the last drop. He's on the lighter end of alcohol tolerance, but he knows he'll be fine so long as he doesn't have too many more drinks.
"It really is odd to just have a night to relax. How long has it been since we've had downtime?"
Sayano is slower to drain hers, watching her comrade drink over the rim of her own.
"It feels like moons, if not a year or more." She smiles around her drink, though, another internal laugh in her eyes, and holds the goblet loosely in her fingers after she swallows her sip. "It makes it all the sweeter, doesn't it? After so long having to make do with whatever time we could find, a whole night to ourselves!"
Felih smiles a bit and shakes his head in amusement. "Very true. A night with no pressure awaiting us in the morning- ah, I want to sleep in~!" he says, tail wiggling as he purrs. "A long hot bath followed by a cozy sleep without fear of interruptions. That would be nice," he says. "For now, no more rushed baths in cold rivers or light sleeps that can be disturbed by any passing beast or enemy..."
He then laughs, "But perhaps it's too lofty a dream, a good sleep."
"If there's anything our work has taught us, it's no dream is too lofty." She smiles more warmly now. "I've found I sleep best if I can relax myself first."
If anything's lofty, it's that if. But maybe not so much for Felih. (Maybe the ludicrous amounts of energy are her manifestation of the Echo somehow? Who knows. She certainly doesn't.)
Felih laughs a little then, bumping her shoulder with his as he gives her a playful wink. "Oh, there's plenty of ways to relax. You'll have to share some tricks with me sometime- I may need them." He's the type who pampers others plenty- massages, grooming, fine food and attire- but he forgets to turn such attentions onto himself.
She nudges his shoulder right back, giggling at him over another sip of her drink, which is jostled but never falls from her hand through either shoulder-bump - if she can balance a throwing knife on her fingers by feel in the heat of combat, she can keep something much more easily held in her hand in pleasant company.
"I'd always be glad to show you, you know." And if anyone didn't think that little lilt in her voice wasn't flirtatious in the slightest they had clearly never met either of them. Whether it meant anything in any seriousness, however, could likely not be predicted.
"Do you remember the pleasant sort of exhaustion that comes after a long bout of training or sparring? It's something like that."
Or that exactly, she supposes now that she's used it, but she's never found appeal in friendly duels when there were more cooperative friendly things to do instead.
He purrs and grins then, eyelids lowering as he regards his partner, leaning down playfully towards her. He found it quite funny to confused the masses about the nature of their relationship- after all, they were both so playfully flirtatious it was hard to tell if either of them were ever genuinely interested in someone, let alone each other.
"Oh~? Is that so? Well, how could I turn down such an invitation from my dearly trusted teammate?" he purrs. "You make it sound so very tempting, putting it like that."
Felih is a hopeless flirt, seemingly insatiable- after all, it's why he's so promiscuous wherever they go. He couldn't help it- he craved attention and connection, and the intimacy that came with such carnal bliss.
It isn't as if Sayano didn't have a similar reputation, even if she kept her connections no deeper than friendship. Her hedonistic streak fit all too nicely into this dynamic of theirs.
She meets his gaze with an excited spark in hers, bright and eager. It seems she can't do the "smoldering" look. She has entirely too little self-control for that.
"Hmm..." she tips her head slightly, knowing, at least, the angles at which light catches her eyes and smile best. "'Tempting'? Temptations are things you have some reason to resist, right?"
Felih can't help but laugh at the brightness in her eyes, her eagerness only making her cuter in her failing attempts at achieving a "smolder" in her eyes. Truly, how could he resist flirting with someone so fun and sweet? He grins and leans down, purring as his lowers his face closer towards hers, his tail wiggling playfully behind him.
"That's true," he hums at her, "Mayhaps I shouldn't be worrying so much about that~?"
She's resigned herself to her charm being in her playfulness rather than in any more traditional allure. She'd proven to be absolutely terrible at the sort of flirting most people think of when they hear the word.
Not that it matters in this particular case, with this particular person. It's a much different matter when she's already spent time with the other, even more so for a friend like her fellow hero.
She suppresses a laugh of her own as she catches the movement of his tail out of the corner of her eye. Miqo'te tails are so expressive. It means it's easier to see that her friend is enjoying himself. After everything they've been through, really, she's glad to help however she can. (Especially if she also has fun in the process.)
"Of course not!" She grins again, lively golden eyes holding his gaze, and leaning in just a bit for herself in her excitement. "What harm could there be, after all?"
Felih's having so very much fun. His promiscuity and casual trysts are well-known among the Scions at this point, and so long as his activities don't get in the way of his work, no one much minds his flirtatiousness too much. Besides, who were they to judge how he sought out companionship? (After losing his mate, who would deny him the shallow comfort of physical intimacy?)
"Well then, my friend, I suppose at this point it's more of an invitation, hm~?" he purrs at her with a grin, before leaning down to close the distance, content to press his lips right to hers- the lingering sweetness of his drink still on his lips. His hand comes up to gently hold her chin as he kisses her- lightly, at first, in case he has overstepped his bounds.
It's difficult to truly go too far with Sayano once her trust has been gained. She replies into the kiss, little more than a muffled "mm-hmm" against his lips. She presses into it, and raises one hand to cover his own to tell him he hadn't judged wrong. And she begins shifting closer, to the edge of her seat...
It might be, she thinks, time to take this elsewhere. Promiscuous they both may be, but exhibitionism isn't her usual style.
That doesn't mean she has no appreciation for a stylish exit. In two swift motions chained fluidly into one, she deposits her drink on the counter and pushes off it with her free hand, the other coming down to brace on Felih's leg as if she's about to push herself into his lap. Instead, she catches the flow of aether midair, hovering just before him as she calls up the telltale flare of soft light that accompanies a teleportation spell.
She extends an invisible tether for him to take, inviting him to follow. She's confident he wouldn't refuse. Even if it turns out she's the one who's overstepped her bounds in the end, the beach isn't very far from the Topmast apartment building - should the mood fail them, they could always just go swimming. Friends don't put undue pressure on one another, after all.
