[ It takes Era an unfairly long time to locate Estinien, even when taking into account her troubles in tracking down Thancred.
Unlike Alphinaud, Era is not one to fret over Estinien's well-being (current situation aside). He is perfectly capable of defending himself, and though he is oft bullheaded to the point of stupidity (not that she is any better herself) he is very good at staying alive through sheer stubbornness if not his incredible skill.
She had last seen him a few moons ago in the Azim Steppe of all places whilst catching up on her training as a dragoon, but has seen neither hide nor hair of the elusive man since then. How he arrived on the shores of Othard is still a mystery to her beyond the obvious conclusion of travelling via ship. The why is more understandable to Era as she suffers from wanderlust frequently, always desiring to explore new places and learn new skills. Bound by duty as he had been, Estinien would not have been free to travel quite so much as an Azure Dragoon. Now, however, the world is his to explore as he wishes.
The Xaela of the Steppe informed her the dragoon had taken the path to Yanxia last they saw of him, meaning that it was more than likely Estinien was no longer in Yanxia. Era travels to Namai's Aetheryte regardless and learns from Isse that she should head the way of the Ruby Sea. From there it isn't hard to find out from the locals that Estinien went to Kugane.
So of course Era eventually finds him in the Coerthas Central Highlands, bent over a book and surrounded by a fair number of crumpled sheets of paper. It's all she can do to bite back the giggle tickling her throat. ]
A quill is not a very small lance, Estinien.
[ Hello, friend. You might notice that her hair is now longer cropped short enough to rival Aymeric's. It sure has been a while.
You might also notice that the Warrior of Light is making fun of you, but it's only because she is also incredibly relieved to find that Omega has left you to your soul-searching in peace. Truly. It's not because you look absolutely ridiculous or anything. ]
