They've asked a lot of Felih- and will ask yet more, G'raha's sure. At least they have some time to rest, right now- though really now it's his turn to be working hard. Just- give him a moment.
He glances at Felih out of the corner of one eye, and hums. "You know- I hadn't thought about it much, before. But it's entirely possible! At least one is centred on, well, the sparkle of the sun off star-tipped spires. Probably entirely poetical, as far as the tips go, though."
It's... been a long day, even aside from all the chaos of the Crystal Tower and clearing it out. He sighs deeply and suddenly lets himself flop over, overly playful as ever, leaning heavily on G'raha's side as if trying to knock him over.
"It just- well, while I was in there, sometimes it seemed like they really were describing all the glory and wonder in there. Makes me wonder if maybe all along those were meant to prepare you somehow," he hums, tail twitching as he mulls it all over.
"That aside, if you don't mind it, I'd like to learn them," he says after a moment. Felih too, is a songbird, a performer, and a dancer, and he so loves to sing for those he meets among his travels. After all, what tavern anywhere will turn down a song and dancing, carousing and liveliness?
G'raha lets out a surprised sound, but leans back, trying to keep them both steady.
He nods, tail curling gently. "Building up the anticipation for what you'd see- and then seeing it was that incredible- I'd say it's likely."
"I don't mind at all! I'd like it if more people knew them- it'd be nice to hear them more widely." G'raha doesn't sing for others as much, but for a friend? Definitely. He brings out his harp, testing the strings, and grins at Relih. "Shall we start with that one?"
Felih smiles and grins up at him when G'raha refuses to yield and be knocked over, before properly sitting up again, though he does settle close so he can watch the way his fingers move across the strings of the harp. "I agree- song should be shared, spread," he encourages, before his ears perk up, ready to listen.
"Go ahead- it's always a treat to hear your voice, after all," he chirps, tail swaying contentedly behind him as he gives his friend his attention. "Besides, there's something intriguing about new songs, especially ones passed down through time."
Felih relaxes considerably after that, ears perking up attentively to better hear him, as he shuts his eyes and just takes in the sound of G'raha's voice. The pluck of the strings, the mellow calm in G'raha's voice- it truly is a pleasure to hear, something that makes him feel more at ease as he hears it. Here, in the crystal wastelands of Mor Dhona, it's quiet, peaceful.
Overlooking the tower from this high cliff is... certainly an experience, but now, coupled with song, it seems to become even grander, somehow.
Felih's purring before he knows it, contentedly listening and letting his friend finish.
There's something about playing that always sets him at ease. And this song, in this place- it feels right, in a way!
G'raha lets the last few notes fade out naturally, fingers just hovering over the strings lightly, before he lowers the harp. He gives Felih a little grin. "You liked it, I take it?"
Felih smiles, and it's a lazy one, content and relaxed. "It's a beautiful melody. You do it justice," he says softly, looking out to the tower. "There's something about old melodies that intrigues me. The songs and words passed down, through the generations. Tradition and memory, from voice to voice. It reminds me of some of the old songs of my tribe." Felih is tribeless now- he never introduced himself with a tribe prefix. But logic dictates he must have had one, once.
Suddenly struck by curiosity, he turns his head back towards G'raha. "Speaking of which... what's your tribe like, if you don't mind speaking of it? I've not yet had the chance to ask."
G'raha grins. "Thank you very much!" He follows Felih's look gaze out to the Tower, over their surroundings. "It's something of a legacy, isn't it? So no matter how many generations pass, we have something of them." He makes an intrigued sound- Felih's never really said much about his tribe before. "Really? I'd love to hear some of those sometime- if you'd like to sing them for me, of course."
He ducks his head, with a little embarrassment. "I… well, I haven't actually known too many of them. My mother and aunts were good women, of course! Not all as studious as my father and I- but they had their own interests. At least until the two of us left for Sharlayan. I hear they're doing quite well, though!"
si~! unfortunately headcanon is all we have for most tribes ;w;
"I see. Is it that your tribe is more scattered, or that you were merely drawn away from them as life went on?" Felih asks curiously, ears up. But when the topic is music, he seems to relax even further.
Felih hums a little, nodding. "It's true. In a sense, it's comforting- for a work to survive through the eons." He pauses for a long moment, as if seriously considering what to say and how much to say about his tribe- there is a reason he reveals no clan when he introduces himself, clanless and secretive.
But some things... well, they're harmless to share, aren't they?
"...My tribe has ever been fond of song and dance. It is a part of our daily lives, things in our prayers and celebrations, in greetings and goodbyes. Things in song can be passed down..." And then he takes a breath, and sings, voice mellow and lovely, his cheeks darkening as he looks away from his companion. He seems unusually shy about this, considering how much of a vain and prideful showman he usually is, dancing and singing to raise spirits in the camps, in the taverns wherever he goes.
"Obsession, it takes control, Obsession, it eats me whole. I can't say the words out loud, So in rhyme I wrote you down. Now you'll live through the ages, I can feel your pulse in the pages.
I have written you down Now you will live forever And all the world will read you And you will live forever In eyes not yet created On tongues that are not born I have written you down Now you will live forever!
Your body lies upon the sheets, of paper in words so sweet. I can't say the words, so I wrote you into my verse. Now you'll live through the ages, I can feel your pulse in the pages!
I have written you down Now you will live forever And all the world will read you, And you will live forever..."
He pauses, and then clears his throat, cheeks still burning, and resumes speaking. "...that is to say, song immortalizes the things we hold dear. And we take it quite seriously."
"Largely that we felt pulled away- to try to uncover what secrets we could," G'raha says. "Mostly of Allag, of course!" He's not going around uncovering just anyone's secrets, that would be rude.
He's willing to wait. It's within Felih's rights to keep it to himself if he'd prefer- though it would be nice to know a little more about his friend! And G'raha perks up when Felih speaks, and settles in to listen.
"It sounds very well put in that song!" he agrees, tail curling. "And- I agree. It's important to remember these things. Do you… have you written for the things you find important, perhaps?"
yes! it's fun having the freedom, but i also worry that one day SE might smash our worldbuilding ;w;
Felih hums curiously, taking in the words, before he feels his cheeks darken and burn. "I'm... glad. The songs we hold dear to us mean all the world, when the right one sings it," he says softly, before he goes darker still.
"Oh, well... of course. I wouldn't do for someone like me to have not penned a few songs of my own, but- well. Sometimes it's a bit difficult, to give voice to the verse, knowing that its subject may overhear you," he says, an unusual bashfulness to him.
He turns his gaze back to the crystal expanse of Mor Dhona, and the tower that glimmers above. "...there are many things, places, people I hold dear. Some gone now, some out of reach. But in song, I remember. In song, I can give voice to the feelings I was too cowardly to admit any other way."
yeah ._. still I'm sure there'd be ways we could move!
G'raha nods, offering Felih a small smile. "No- that's understandable! I… well, music means a lot- more than words, sometimes- and when someone hears it, you don't quite know how they'll take it."
He turns that way, as well, humming. "It's a good thing," he says, softly. "To be able to hold onto them- and to leave for someone else- someone who appreciates them as you do."
Felih's ears perk up a little more then, and he lets himself release a sigh. Tension leaves him with his breath, and he feels his heart eased a little.
There's a beat of silence, as Felih seems to think things over, and murmurs, "Hey, G'raha? What do you think you'll do, once all this is over? There must be so many more Allagan relics to search for, I imagine."
mm. I'm sure it'll be fine! I kinda don't feel they'd want to move that way tbh
It's a nice moment, as they both relax. G'raha settles, just listening for a few moments.
He hums, thinking. "I'd say so," he says. "The Empire was spread over the continents- so there must be other artefacts out there. Once we have matters settled here, I think I'd like to do that- and to see more of the land across the way, too!"
Felih smiles softly then. "Ever-curious. Mayhaps we'll get to cross paths more and more, then," he says, perking up optimistically. "It's been fun, getting to explore with you and work with you. And learning more about Allag admittedly intrigues me- though unfortunately, many tasks often pull me this way and that without giving me much freedom to simply follow one path."
He leans against him again, head resting on G'raha's shoulder as he purrs, ever tactile and affectionate.
"Well- why wouldn't I be?" He grins, a little sheepishly- but perks up. There is a lot to explore out there! "It'd be nice to see a friendly face again- because it's been a good time exploring for me, too! And if we could follow the same path, even for a little while- I'd love that. Perhaps I could even tell you what we've learned since last meeting!"
He rumbles back, reaching out to hold Felih, happy with the company and Felih's presence.
Felih just laughs then, bright-eyed and tail wiggling. "Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm too curious for my own good, after all," he chirps, purring and nuzzling into his shoulder, relaxing considerably when G'raha holds him, purring right back. It's comforting, a happy warmth he's glad to share with the other, his fluffy tail coming down to try and coil and twine with G'raha's as he rests, cuddling a little closer.
"I would be thrilled for that. To hear you speak of your passion is ever a delight- and besides, I'm just as curious to learn of your findings," he says, sincere, shutting his eyes as he rests against his companion. "...it has certainly been an adventure, exploring the tower with you."
G'raha chuckles. "Is there any such thing, really?" It's very comfortable and he's in no mood to shift, happy to have their tails intertwine- though Felih's probably engulfs him, more than a little.
"Then we'll look to doing that!" He makes a little pleased sound, leaning in. "It has! I've been glad of it- hadn't had a lot like that. But I'd certainly look forward to more."
It's a common thing, for Felih's rather lush and long tail to engulf those of others if he tries to cuddle and twine their tails together, but he's used to it. At the very least, his fur gave him a pleasantly useful layer of warmth whenever he had to go somewhere cold- though his lungs still struggled when faced with frigid air.
"You've a point- after all, discovery and advancement would never come, if not for curiosity," he replies, before feeling his cheeks darken. It was one thing to cuddle, to be close and enjoy the warmth, but was G'raha getting a little closer still...? Felih was trying not to overthink it, though his heart skipped a beat regardless.
"Truly? Adventures are one of the great pleasures in life," he laughs softly, looking up at him from where his head still rests on his shoulder. "Let's have more together- after all, adventures are best shared with friends."

I hope this works! it's just… been a while so
"Rising to the sky,
Find our spires upon high
Bring knowledge and strength to all below!
For all who seek, let knowledge show!"
