"His favorite color is black and gold," replied Nanamo automatically, as she smiled. "Yes, a present would be nice. Something simple, not lavish. He was never one for flaunting his wealth, but something to remind him that he is loved."
"A painting commissioned of him and his son perhaps," said Nanamo. "General Pipin would be most amused to pose for it, and we certainly have images of Raubahn. Or if that isn't formal enough, send him a delicious fruit basket."
"Black and gold..." Felih muses over this, head already racing with ideas. He's a goldsmith, a weaver, and he's already wondering, perhaps jewelry? But no, Nanamo says he's not one for finery and wealth. Perhaps lovely attire? Would that be too ostentatious?
"AS for the fruit... Though I have no doubt that he would enjoy a fruit basket, somehow a commemorative fruit basket for such grand accomplishments seems comical..." he laughs, covering his grin with a hand.
"A painting! What a wonderful idea! Haha, but if we do that, I should wish to include you too," Felih says with a smile. "After all, he did always seem to see you as a daughter, in many ways, and his care and loyalty to you has not faded in the slightest," he chirps in delight, tail wiggling in excitement.
Nanamo sputtered for a moment before sighing deeply. "Well, if that is what would make him happy, I suppose we can do that. The painting would have to be done in a sitting however, General Pipin's duties are important. I will call for a painter immediately."
She considered it for a moment and added, "Felih, you are a goldsmith are you not? You should make the frame."
Felih lights up, tail suddenly quivering in delight as he considers this. "Wonderful! Then, we can go about making the arrangements. You and Pipin will sit for the portrait- and I will go about smithing a properly ornate frame for it. Let's see, gold is simple enough, but the stones... black pearls, onyx, obsidian? So much to choose from for the accents of black..."
"I will call General Pipin, I am certain he has a bell and a half worth of time to sit for a painting, especially one for his father." said Nanamo as she picked up a bell and rang for her attendant.
Once informed, she turned to Felih and smiled. "There, it is settled. He will be here within the bell."
Felih laughs a little then, perking up. "What a surprise he'll find it- a summons from the sultana to sit for a portrait with her. What an honor!" he jokes, grinning. "It must seem like such an odd and sudden request. Though, I have half a mind to summon Alphinaud as well... did you know he's actually incredibly artistic?"
"It surprised me, but his pieces are incredible- but he rarely shares them. 'Tis a shame. Ah, well- I'm not even certain if he paints, I've only ever seen him sketch."
"What do you think you should wear for the sitting? Perhaps we could outfit you with something special in the meantime?"
"I was unaware that Alphinaud was artistic. It must have benefited him greatly during his travels."
Or at least to foster the hearts of women, that tiny playboy.
"Mmm yes, I should find something different than my usual royal vestments. This is sort of a... family painting so to speak. It wouldn't do to be wearing the same old thing."
Felih laughs softly. "It has, on some occasions, been paramount to locating missing persons, and it's quite an invaluable skill," he adds, before lighting up.
"Yes, my thoughts exactly! Would you mind a hand?" he offers, tail already puffing up in delight at the mere prospect of getting to help put together an outfit for the Sultana herself. Felih's ever-attentive to the fine points of fashion, and such excursions are a welcome distraction.
"I wouldn't mind one bit. It would give my handmaiden some time off." chuckled Nanamo with a little smile. "You're familiar with my walk-in wardrobe. What would you suggest?"
Felih continues to hold a deep envy for the Sultana's wide choice of garb, especially enamored with the sheer size of her wardrobe- but he's delighted for the chance to do something fun.
"Let's see- a casual family portrait. Something simpler, but still light-hearted! Perhaps one of these dresses? Light, airy, but the embroidery is lovely and simple. Nothing too ostentatious," he suggests, holding up a soft cream dress, flowing and trimmed with golden embroidery.
"Or, perhaps if you desire something with a bit more color, this green would highlight your eyes..." He muses, fiddling with another dress. "What say you? Do you have a preference of style, my lady?"
"Then, perhaps the light cream, after all," Felih decides, picking the flowy and fluttery dress, something good for the heat often felt in Thanalan. He sets it gently on a nearby rack for easy reach, before he hums and looks about. "Now, your crown is beautiful, but perhaps a simpler look? Lovely earrings, a necklace, and..."
He suddenly perks up. "Would you mind if I styled your hair? Leaving it down would be lovely." And then a laugh: "Ahah, I wonder if we should set Pipin in more casual clothing as well, or if he should prefer to wear his armor..."
Luckily, Felih also has plenty of hair- if nothing else, at least he's got plenty of experience with sheer volume. "Let's get to it! Even for voluminous manes, there's always a surefire way to tame them and style them well..." he chirps contentedly, before relaxing and setting the chosen attire out nearby on a dressing rack for later.
"Oh! The general in a suit- Twelve, you know, I don't think I've ever seen him in attire that wasn't his armor," he muses after a moment, before gesturing to the sultana's vanity mirror and pulling up a hair. "I think I know just what to do with your hair."
Taking off her crown, she settled into a sitting position at the vanity and said, "Do what you will, Felih. I trust you will be as good as Jandalaine."
Felih beams, puffing up slightly with pride at the allowance. "Thank you- I will do my best. You do have such beautiful hair, my lady!" he chirps in delight, carefully undoing her current style before brushing carefully, stroking through the locks to ensure they're ready to style without tangling as he starts to plait the hair.
He hums, murmuring, "Of course. And I won't resort to flashy dyes." He laughs a little then, grinning. "As fun as they can be, your hair is already lovely enough on its own. So, we'll have Raubahn in a suit, Pipin will choose fitting attire he finds fitting, you'll wear that lovely dress, and you'll all look wonderful." He's purring, pleased. "It'll be a lovely gift. Thank you, Nanamo, for helping me with this. I'm sure it will mean the star to him, to have you and Pipin be a part of it."
All the while, he keeps working, gently but skillfully continuing to brush and style her hair.
"Of course! After all, we all owe him much. I'm glad to be able to help in presenting such a gift," Felih purrs happily, still gently working through her thick locks of hair. Luckily, the easiest wait to tame thick hair is to braid it, and he's happily putting her hair in a more intricately double-layered fishtail braid.
"As for your hair, this more relaxed style ought to do... especially if you let it rest over your shoulder for the portrait, it'll look lovely on you." He leaves the locks and fringe framing her face and over her forehead as they are- they already frame it well enough he feels no need to adjust those, but the rest of the hair goes into the braid. "There- how do you feel about this style?"
"Yes I think this would be perfect," said Nanamo, smiling as she touched her hair. Felih's work was on par with Jandalaine, and she didn't even have to book an appointment with the overworked stylist to get something on this level.
Felih preens, puffing up and purring, tail wiggling behind him in the pride and satisfaction that comes with a job well done- and of course, the praise coming from high places.
"Thank you, my lady~ 'Tis an honor," he purrs, delighted, before humming and looking around, lighting up when he finds what he's looking for. Amid the many bouquets in the sultana's chambers is a cactuar blossom, and he comes back with it, gently tucking it behind one of Nanamo's ears. "There- a simple finishing touch. It ought to make for a sweet and natural look, once you're in that dress. Perhaps we'll surprise Pipin with your new look, too."
"I daresay he will be blown away by it," said Nanamo with a sly grin on her face. "By all merits, I would imagine you were trying to get me to be more fetching for my Captain."
Felih feigns innocence. "What, me? Match-making? Never," he says, a hand over his heart in mock offense. "I just enjoy making people look lovely and giving them a new look for a day."
Oh, the mischievous wiggle of his tail gives it away, though- Felih is ever the hopeless romantic, trying to nudge people together if he thinks they would be a good fit. Though born under Nymeia's star, some say he perhaps was more suited to Menphina's. Ah well!
"Truly you lie as well as you style," replied Nanamo with a level mock glare before giggling. "I dare say the young Marshall-Captain will be blown away by my looks."
Felih laughs then, grinning widely and purring, "I do think he will. You'll have to let me know how it goes- oh, if only I could linger long enough to see his face myself. But I should likely get to work smithing that frame... ah, but wait, I should wait to see how big the portrait will be before I get to work, so perhaps I'll stay, if you'll allow."
He hums, tapping his lips as he thinks. "Would you like to have your face painted, or simply go for a natural look? Either would work well, I imagine," he muses.
